Focus and Scope

The journal Trends in Computational and Applied Mathematics is intended to publish high-quality scientific works within the different sub-areas of Mathematics and its applications. One of the purposes of the series is to disseminate scientific themes in Ibero Latin America, especially in Brazil, coordinated by the Brazilian Society of Computational and Applied Mathematics (SBMAC).

Section Policies

Main section for submitting articles for evaluation by TCAM. Authors should select this section, except in specific cases of submissions from congresses supported by SBMAC.

Checked Open Submissions Checked Indexed Checked Peer Reviewed

For articles coming from CNMAC, submitted for publication in TCAM journal. Articles are only considered if there is a significant difference from the work published in the Proceedings of CNMAC. Duplicates will be rejected.

Peer Review Process

Authors interested in publishing in Trends in Computational and Applied Mathematics must submit their articles through the journal's system, available at http://tema.sbmac.org.br. Articles are received by the Editor-in-Chief, and after checking, they are forwarded to the Associate Editors, who will conduct a peer review process. In this process, the Associate Editors invite at least two ad hoc reviewers, researchers with publications and experience in the area of the submitted work or in related areas, to provide advisory opinions on the submitted work within a period of 45 days. In case of conflicting opinions, the work is forwarded to a third ad hoc reviewer. Based on the opinions issued, the final decision is announced by the Associate Editors. After the result, authors have 30 days to submit the revised version, which is analyzed again by the Editor, based on the opinions sent by ad hoc reviewers. Once the evaluation stage has been completed, approved articles proceed to the editing phase, being allocated for publication in the next available issue.

Publication Frequency

Trends in Computational and Applied Mathematics is published quarterly in March, June, September and December of each year.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration. More...

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Trends in Computational and Applied Mathematics fully adhere to COPE's Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines. To facilitate the contribution of high-quality scientific studies to the field of academic publication, TCAM adheres to a rigorous peer-review procedure as well as defined ethical principles and standards. When we become aware of ethical difficulties, we are committed to investigating and taking the required steps to protect the integrity of the literature and the safety of research participants. Manuscripts should follow the TCAM editorial and ethical criteria established on this page and in the Guidelines for Authors.

  • Prevention: early detection and flagging of potential ethical concerns through automated and manual assessments of peer review and manuscript.
  • Neutrality: to be fair and objective, making judgments to correct the literature where necessary.
  • Transparency: when possible and appropriate, keep all parties informed and allow them time to respond.
  • Consistency: ensuring proper processes are followed for the investigation of concerns and applicability of policies, and principles and flowcharts of COPE are upheld.

Ethical Guidelines for Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to TCAM must guarantee they are ethically sound and fulfill industry-recognized standards, as in TCAM policies.

Authors who submit their manuscripts to TCAM must:

  • Present their research findings accurately and give an objective appraisal of their importance.
  • Maintain accurate authorship by including only those eligible for authorship and explicitly describing their contribution.
  • At the time of submission, disclose any information that could be interpreted as a potential conflict of interest.
  • Present their data and techniques with precision. The data and methods used in the study must be described in sufficient detail in the publication for other researchers to repeat their work. Raw data must be made public unless there is a strong reason to the contrary (e.g., confidentiality agreements).
  • Be advised that concurrent submission of articles to multiple journals is not authorized.
  • Original research results must be unique and previously unpublished.
  • Obtain permission from the copyright owners to publish any previously published content (including quotations, figures, or tables).
  • Promptly communicate any errors or inaccuracies discovered after publishing.

This is not an entire list; authors should know local rules and acceptable academic publication practices.

Management of Unethical Behaviors

Unethical behaviors should be promptly reported to the Editor-in-Chief by email. The editors and the publishers should take approachable measures to tackle ethical complaints about a submitted manuscript or published article. Every unethical publishing behavior would be examined even when discovered after a publication.
